Borgo dei Conti Resort
Borgo dei Conti Resort: A Harmony of History, Nature, and Contemporary Design
In the heart of Umbria, nestled in a landscape that feels suspended in time, Borgo dei Conti Resort emerges as a perfect synthesis of historical tradition and contemporary elegance. The hospitality project, designed by the Milan-based studio Spagnulo and Partners, draws inspiration from the region’s rich heritage, offering guests a unique experience where the beauty of the past coexists seamlessly with the sophistication of the present.
The design vision is deeply rooted in Umbrian culture, with particular emphasis on the Renaissance landscapes and architecture that serve as a true backdrop for the stay. References to the Renaissance are not limited to architectural details but extend into the most contemporary design choices, with a refined interplay of colours and materials that evoke the unspoiled nature surrounding the resort. The colour palette recalls the warm tones of Umbrian masters such as Pietro Perugino and Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, who used the landscape as a lens through which to filter the light and beauty of the natural world.
Every element of Borgo dei Conti Resort, from furnishings to finishes, is conceived to foster a deep dialogue with the surrounding environment. The project adopts a philological approach, with a meticulous selection of local materials that become central to the narrative. From Etruscan terracotta from Montone (PG), to the stone of San Terenziano, the textiles of Giuditta Brozzetti in Perugia, and materials from the Sugaroni kiln in Castel Viscardo (TR), each detail has been carefully chosen to reflect the region’s history and cultural identity.
The resort has been conceived with the intention of offering guests a fully immersive experience, where landscape and architecture blend in perfect harmony, creating spaces that seem to tell centuries-old stories. Every detail is designed to enhance the natural surroundings, as if the guests themselves were the protagonists of a living artwork—an artwork that evolves with the light and seasons.
The design of the rooms and suites, characterized by contemporary furnishings, always maintains a strong connection to tradition and understated elegance. Beamed ceilings, fireplaces, frescoes, and 19th-century pictorial elements, expertly restored, are among the historical features that interact with modern aesthetics, creating an atmosphere of serenity and discreet luxury.
A further contribution to the project came from Panzeri, which developed a series of custom-designed lighting fixtures tailored exclusively for the resort. Thoughtfully crafted using noble materials and refined finishes, these pieces seamlessly integrate with the spaces, making light a fundamental component of the ambiance. The result is a series of visual and atmospheric effects that turn every space into a unique sensory experience.
Borgo dei Conti Resort is not simply a place to stay—it is an experience that bridges the artistry of the past with the sophistication of the present. Paying homage to Umbria’s cultural and architectural heritage while meeting the demands of modern luxury hospitality, the resort achieves a perfect balance. Every corner, every detail, and every space is designed to offer guests a true escape from the ordinary, immersing them in timeless beauty.
