Red Dot Award for Viisi and AlDecimo by Panzeri
09/04/2018New design awards for our firm’s lamps.
Panzeri Carlo Srl’s lighting wins a prestigious new award, or better two awards. The hanging and floor lamp ‘Viisi’ has won the Red Dot Award while the wall lamp ‘AlDecimo’ has received a Special Mention.
Red Dot Product Design was born in 1954 and today is a brand whose excellence in design quality and innovation is recognized the world over. This year’s candidates included firms from 59 countries. Every product was judged by an independent international jury.
The award winners are on show in the Red Dot museum in Zollverein, Essen (Germany).
THE TWO AWARD-WINNING LAMPS
Viisi. Designers Gio Minelli and Marco Fossati were inspired by the javelin used in athletics to create this pentagon-based lamp. Viisi started out as a floor lamp, but its decorative potential suggested using it as a hanging lamp too. This latter version is available in two lengths with direct lighting, and in the indirect version too, ideal for creating compositions with the direct version.
AlDecimo is a wall lamp which takes its inspiration from the world of furnishing. It’s the work of architect Carmen Ferrara. Enzo Panzeri created the lamp’s engineering. AlDecimo makes it possible to play with light: it opens and closes with a light pushing gesture thanks to a movement that uses small jacks. The light changes depending on the lamp’s layout: when it’s on, a simple perimeter outline lights up; once it’s open, it lights up the entire room. The Red Dot award is not the first this lamp has won: in 2017 it received the Archiproducts Design Award from the architecture website Archiproducts.com and the ‘Decorative Wall Lighting product of the year’ at Light Middle East (Dubai).
OTHER AWARDS FOR PANZERI DESIGN
AlDecimo and Viisi confirm other recent successes for Panzeri product design. The first in a series of international award winners was the table lamp Jackie in 2016 (IF Design Award, Good Design, German Design Award, Delta ADI), and success continued into 2017 with the ring family, Golden Ring, Silver Ring and Planet Ring (German Design Award).
